He was mad because his son has a black girlfriend. So his son recorded him saying nigger on the phone and he sold the tape to the national enquirer. His show was canceled because of it, and now he's apologizing for using the word.

This whole situation is a shame for Dog's sake because this was a private conversation with his son and now all of this has happened. I thoroughly enjoyed the special Geraldo did on reverse racism and how white people do not get any slack but black people can say anything and not have to apologize. White people don't even get any slack to the point where people like Dog have to apologize for a private conversation with his child.

Yeah the whole situation is pretty ridiculous. I think he's making it worse by going on this apology tour. He should just say he's not a racist, and it was a private conversation.

^^^^ "cracker" hardly has the same weight and history that "nigger" does. do you think that it's fine to wear a swastika around, since the swastika's a symbol and has no inherent (offensive) meaning--only the meaning that people ascribe to it? I hate it when white people complain about NOT BEING ABLE TO SAY THE N-WORD as though their rights are being trampled on--as though showing the bare minimum of sensitivity by not using a word that's historically been used to degrade human beings impinges on their freedom of speech.

I don't know anything about this situation besides what's on this thread, but it sounds like it wasn't a "private conversation with his child" that attracted a media storm, it was a conversation made public by that very child, who obviously thought that what Dog was saying was offensive and backwards.
