"Well, you see... I told my 14 year old to wash the car... And I guess he thought it was like washing dishes... Thank god I found him before he started with the soap..."

it'd displace what water a minivan would displace, if a minivan could displace water

The fireman and tow truck support the likelihood that this is real. The skid marks, if present, would be cropped out of the picture. And for all we know, someone pushed the car in there as a psycho prank or something. As for displacement, once the cabin filled with water it'd be pretty negligible with respect to the volumous pool.

i ran some very approximate numbers but determined it's almost certain the pool water would have risen over one foot. it would have had to be extremely low in the first place, though this is possible if much time and care was taken in execution of the prank.

hey, what if the windows are rolled down? how else are you going to get the thing to fill up quickly? it almost looks like they are, but you can't really tell.

I'm guessing at least more than an hour has elapsed. Cars are anything but airtight.

For chops this hard, people are doing funnier and/or more novel things.

certainly, but i'm trying to imagine a scenario where the car filled with water quickly enough to not knock a lot out of the pool in the process. a situation wherein buoyancy is minimized.
