I have a rebel flag visor hanging for my rear view mirror, and many African Americans have rode with me; I have not ever and will not remove it for anyone, but, I have never had any complanits about it either. You don't understand the heritage behind it because you are not part of it.

Again, what Heritage? It wasn't even the Confederate National Flag. It was a battle flag.
And the heritage of losing in a rebellion? Basically that flag is a sign that says "I'm proud that we lost to a drunk!"
Oh, and I love how people can wave the flag of people that fucking rebelled against the United States of America, but at the same time condemn anyone that speaks negatively about our country.

I'm from minnesota. Doesn't mean I'm going to wave a Minnesotan flag because my ancestors grew beats and there are lots of lakes there. Just because you're from the south doesn't mean that YOU should be proud that your half went to war against the US to protect the instituion on slavery(they justified it by state's rights at the time). It's history, not heritage. Saying it's heritage implies that its part of what you are.

You can hardly compare Nazi Germany to the South... I'm from the North, I've been far to pampered in my lifetime to ever be considered a redneck, yet I see nothing wrong with teh confederate flag. It's American History, deal with it. Sorry we aren't like Germany...

I think that most of the people who sport the rebel flag today consider it more of a culteral and group identity thing. I seriously doubt these people advocate slavery and opression.... they just use it as a southern icon. It just means they like to hunt and fish.... go muddin' and shootin'..... drink some beer, party, and "rebel" against the rules of how to act proper.
Granted there are some ignorant ass people who still wave this flag as a symbol of what it used to stand for.....
But the mainstream rebel flag bearers just use it to say "I'm a redneck and i'm proud of it".

I am a southern girl, I have a rebel flag hanging in my room right next to my USMC flag. So am I also a dumbass jarhead b/c I PROUDLY wave a marine corps flag? Our heritage is our traditions, our values that we pass on through our sons and daughters. Dont bitch about things you don't know about. A confederate flag doesn't mean we're racist and the south won many battles as well as lost but that didn't make them bad soldiers or stupid.
