yeah... they're all cute and fun, until one day: you're holding it, and he/she's all calm and cool, then something makes it bug out, it balls up, and rips your hands apart like a meat grinder.
...enjoy! =)

I got Nemo and Tico in the petstore at the mall. They are both very grumpy, if you seriously wanted to get one I could give you the name of a breeder in the area. Her hedgies are probably a lot nicer, both Tico and Nemo were 130 a piece. But I have spent way more for cages, food, vet bills, and toys. IM me if you want more info.

Damn. Why does your pet get "awww!" comments when mine only gets comments about fur coats and furbys?? Nemo is really cute though! So, you bought them from Julie and Andrew at the mall? I bought my chins from Julie, and I love them. Banza's a brat, but Harkle is pretty sweet and doesn't mind being held.

Yea I guess thats thier name "Andes Pets", no offense but they piss me off. They keep three hedgehogs in one container with shavings, no wheel/toys, and terrible food. When I bought Nemo I knew more about hedgies than they did! I only bought Nemo from them because I felt so bad for the little guys in that teeny tank with no toys or hidey places or anything. Both my hedgies are pretty bad tempered and grumpy with people, which is probably because they are petstore hedgies. I have worked with Tico a lot and hes gotten a lot better but Nemo is still a grump. If I bought another one I would buy from a breeder, it would be nice to have a hedgehog that isnt a brat (-: I saw a chin there once and the poor thing looked pretty miserable, im glad one of yours is friendly!

I'm sorry to hear that they aren't very good with the hedgies. I was somewhat surprised when I saw that they were keeping a little white chin in a cage in front of the store. Julie had told us that she keeps them at home and brings them in when people are interested because it's not fair to have them at the store where people poke and keep 'em up all day. We had to wait a day or two to see Harkle and Banza because she was keeping them at home. I guess that turned out to be too much of a hassle or something, which is too bad.

Yea that was the chin I was talking about, the white chin in the front of the store. Im glad they take okay care of their chins, but the way they treat their hedgies is outrageous!! They dont even know how to sex them which is very very bad. They sell their babies supposedly at 11-12 weeks and if they accidently or unknowingly house a male/female together then the female will end up pregnant. If the owner doesnt know that the hedgies pregnant then most likely she will have the babies and eat them unless she has the right conditions. It really pisses me off, do you know them personally? Maybe you could convey the message for me (-: I would like to type up a pamphlet about them and give it to them to give to new owners but I doubt they would actually do it.

I don't know them well, but we buy most of our chin supplies from them. I think Julie breeds the chins herself, and that's why she knows a bit more about them. She and Andrew are very friendly, so I'm sure they'd be open to learning more about the hedgies. I know I would if I wanted healthy animals and a successful business.

Yea I guess they are nice, but I have a hard time when people who sell animals and know nothing about the animals they are selling. I mean how can you sell hedgehogs and not know how to sex them? I tried to tell the employees everything I could about care, and no changes were ever made. I went in there yesterday and they had three hedgies in one teeny cage. One day I will try and make up a pamphlet or something to give them. I just get upset because those poor animals could be there for so long with improper care.

He is soo cute.
I hate petstores though. I think my birds were probably the last animals I'll buy from one, except maybe the occasional fish at a fish/acquarium store. I know the animals look so sad in there and you just wanna take em home, but buying them really only encourages the stores to purchase more. It's a cycle of abuse

Gah. Julie and Andrew were pretty good with the chins, but I didn't realize that they didn't know the other animals too well. That is very sad. I also don't understand how they can sell animals and not know anything about them. Definitely try to talk to Julie and Andrew about it and not just one of their employees. I hate to think that they aren't giving the hedgies and other animals proper care when they're such friendly people and are good with the chins.
