actually, that's just a bug that I'm too lazy to fix. The technology I used to write the site, ASP.NET, provides a nice caching scheme for elements on web pages. Most of the pages I've assembled from separate modules that I wrote. I got lazy with my last couple of features that I added and decided not to write a separate module for the "guts" of my pages. I still turned on caching because the work of finding the most popular photos and recent comments takes a little bit of server work. So instead of searching the database every time those pages are loaded, I render the HTML of the page and keep it in memory for a few seconds. If someone requests that web page and it's still cached, the site just spits out exactly what was stored. When you see yourself as that other user, you're just seeing a snapshot of what that page looked like to the last person to view it.
