yes, it does, manchild. but not a ripoff bcs this is the base platform that we show to customers; when a deal is made, the site gets fully skinned to meet their requests before going live.

actually, the features are upsettingly close to myspace, but despite my objections management insists clients repeatedly ask for myspace-specific things (e.g. bulletins and top friends, etc).

the fact you model it after a familiar site speaks volumes about your creativity.

It seems more or less what the customer wants, not what Derek wants.

creativity? i'm a developer, not a graphic artist. furthermore, this i'm designing this per requirements documents. it's enough of a joke that i need to do CSS styling on the fly when i've got deadlines breathing down my neck. i'll reinvent the wheel tomorrow for you.

There is no site, per se... it's a sample site built on a platform that we show clients interested in launching their own social networking site (its hosted internally). We sell it inclusive of customizing and deploying it just as you would any custom web site for someone. Some instances include e-commerce and shit, so it can get pretty expensive. However, in a month or so we're launching a site that allows you to build/customize your own social networking site (the same way you'd set up your own message board or something) and I think this will have a reasonable monthly fee. The former scenario is for serious businesses ready to invest big money (like, $10k+)

^^ Assuming you're talking about the make-your-own site wizard, I don't know (I'm not sure any of us knows yet). I'll see what I can find out.
