^ There's dread perming, but that costs a couple hundred dollars. There's also a process called backcombing that takes you and a couple of friends to get done in a few hours. You just section your hair into squares depending on what size dreads you want, secure them with rubber bands and start reverse combing the sections in small amounts. Your basically just knotting up the hair and making it really tight.
