in short, yes.
Police need to realize that grabbing someone from behind while they are involved in a physical altercation with multiple opponents could illicit a non-targeted strike. They did, charges were dropped.

^^ Yeah, I was pissed off that they stuck me with those charges. As soon as I saw the person that grabbed me from behind was a cop I put my hands up and apologized, but they thought that beating me would be more fun than realizing that they should've made an effort to come around my front. I had 3 cops kicking me and hitting me with a mag light and a stadium style walkie talkie for 45 seconds to a minute. They really got pissed off when they picked me up and I was smiling. At the time I trained 5 days a week in kick boxing and gung-fu so the beatings that I got every day were much worse than what the cops did.
I like cops, but these ones were a little out of line, but they were in a pretty stressful situation so whatever.
BTW, you worked at the Venice Office Depot?

I work at the Office Depot on Fowler and as part of the relo in Venice I spent a week down there.
